Day 2

Guys from what we have heard everyone is now experiencing a few withdrawal symptoms from the foods/chemicals they are used to digesting. The best bit of advice we can give is that it doesn't last for long, so stick it out.

Sorry guys but sweet potatoe is still a potatoe, doesn't matter what you put in the front of it.

I have gotta learn how to make this food more interesting! Just went to a fruit and veg shop for my sanity! This apple is the greatest thing I have ever eaten and I usually not that keen on fruit! This is going to be a seriously long 30 days and we haven't even got close to a weekend without beer yet!

Jay - prepare meals to take to work with you.. its easier than having to organise it during the day.. =)
Then you can create whatever for din dins and eat the leftover for lunch..

Today started off as per normal and then Melb Cup lunch came and went to sh*t.

1.5 apples
Diced watermelon
1 orange
Handful Almonds
Subway Rolls
Subway Cookies
2 x Ferrero Rochers

I have salad and chops for lunch but not hungry anymore. Super tired now... Din Dins to follow.

I am with the withdrawel group! craving cordial which i didn't expect. Astrid suggested banana's and they have done the trick nicely!

Really enjoying the challenge but the first weekend will be the hardest i think :)

Nez if you want to ditch the coffee in the morning apples are really good at waking you up, much more effective than caffeine (No I'm not joking!!)

Melbourne Cup luncheon stuffed me up too (same food as Lhani) my belly regrets it big time feel sick :-(

Kay after you said that the other day I've been having an apple in the morning, actually very effective :)

I keep forgetting to eat breakfast though. Oops!

But today so far I've had:

Apricot
Apple
Banana
small handful of almonds & macadamias
Chicken and spinach
Fresh pineapple

Dinner will be beef with chopped garlic and pepper. Carrot, squash and brocolli. I should probably try to be a little more inventive but so far this is working for me :)

Astrid - the smoked salmon sounds pretty good paleo wise.. also the Chicken Salad.. and the Gosht Saagwalla... =)

November 3, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterrobyn

Thanks Kay - will definitely give that a shot tomorrow morning.

Nez, I am finding the apples are really good at that 3pm snacktime too.. after sitting in front of the computer, they wake me up again and im ready to go..

November 3, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterrobyn

Thanks for that Robyn. I think I may have a battle on my hands deciding between the Salmon and the Gosht Saagwalla hehe. On the upside it gives me alot less to have to choose from :P

B= Sprigs of cauliflower, chicken tenderloins, 2 stuffed mushrooms (left overs from my try at paleo stuffed mushrooms-yes it did have bacon in it, not making that same mistake) kiwi fruit and 2 slices rockmelons
L= Salad (spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, capsicum, carrot, brocolli, cauliflower and beetroot) with sliced chicked breast and orange to finish it.
D= Steak with brocolli, cauliflower and carrot salad with olive oil and salad herb dressing.
Dessert=blueberries, light coconut milk, pineapple, shredded coconut- this is a good one for breakfast too.
Had a real hard time resisting my bosses offer and effort of getting all staff a trifle from The Herdsman (special treat for Melbourne cup day!) but I'm happy to say I said no greatfully.

afternoon snack : pineapples, mandarins ( shared with kids & Cheng )
Dinner : Mint and rosemary Lamb with brocolli
snack : blueberries +mangoes + shredded coconut + almonds
must remember to drink more water tomorrow ! today was so hot!

on another note, going ( or perhaps trying my best to do ) paleo gives good impact for my kids ( 3 & 2 y o )as they are now snacking on fruits and eating more vegies with their meals. ( confession : they used to snack a lot on pop corns and muffins and chips). Behaviour wise - they seemed to be a little well behaved today. . Probably not going to get them on paleo diet yet , but its a good change! We saw our first tomato on our tomato plant and Sophie is very excited to eat it - definitely a good way to get them eat more vegies!

dins: chicken salad with lettuce, egg, pine nuts, very small bit of beetroot (not paleo i know), 1/4 teaspoon fresh parmeson (also not paleo), tomato. Super yummy..

got offered chocolate for dessert but strangely enough, not even tempted by it.. i had my jerky and a few wallnuts instead.. yummo.. =)

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterrobyn

Din Dins: Paleo Bake mmmm and a couple of frozen berries afterwards.

November 4, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLhani
